Claims Assistance
  1. Contact your agent if you feel you have a loss.
  2. You should be contacted by the claims department by telephone or through the mail.
  3. An adjustor will be assigned to inspect and evaluate the loss.
  4. The claims adjustor should provide you with an itemized explanation or your claim settlement including your deductible amount and depreciation.
  5. Most homeowner policies grant coverage for full replacement cost provided the repairs are actually completed. In these cases, the depreciation is deemed recoverable and the final payment is made after your receipts have been submitted and processed.
NOTE: All carriers have their own method of processing claims. This is just a general guideline.

Hail Exposure
and Damage When shingles have been exposed to hail, it is impossible to ascertain how much damage the material has sustained, with the exception of outward breaks, scuffs, and/or depressions. Normally, if a roof indicates outward damage, the remaining material will be bruised and affected to some degree. This bruising will cause a premature aging of the shingles over a period of time. With bruised material, the granules have been loosened and will wash off in moderate rains. Once these granules have washed off, this exposes the asphalt which held them in place. With the asphalt exposed to the ultra violet rays of the sun, degradation of the top coating takes place loosening surrounding granules. These too will wash off, therefore causing an accelerated and premature aging of shingles. Without visible damage, there is no real way to be sure how much damage shingles have encountered. Outward damage may not appear until months or years later. Should the shingles be damaged by hail, the warranty would become void on those shingles. Any shingles not damaged by the hail will still be covered by the limited warranty for manufacturing defects. There is a definite distinction between damage caused by hail and those due to manufacturing defects.
